Fire crews battled for almost two hours to extinguish a blaze at a house in Ramsey.

A crew from Huntingdon and a crew from Chatteris were called to High Street at about 3.50pm yesterday (Wednesday).

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said: “Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the bathroom of a house. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using a hose reel and returned to their stations by 5.30pm.”

The spokesman said the occupants of the house had “safely evacuated” before the crews arrived.

An investigation determined that the cause of the fire was accidental.
