A BABY girl and seven-year-old boy escaped without injuries following a seven-car pile-up on the A14 near Swavesey.

The youngsters were among a number of people caught up in the collision at junction 28 around midday on Saturday (July 30) which led to major delays for motorists.

Magpas paramedics and ambulance crews were at the scene and treated a man with minor chest injuries, a woman with lower back pain and a man and woman suffering from whiplash.

The man with chest injuries was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Traffic was backed up to Hemingford junction 25 while police closed one lane of the A14 for nearly an hour following the crash.

Officers are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
