Staff at Abbey College have been presented with a prestigious award recognising their work to improve communication with parents.

The college, based in Ramsey, was given the Parental Engagement Silver Award this month, by the Schools, Students and Teachers Network (SSAT) – an organisation encouraging collaboration between teachers. Hadeel Farrag, assistant head teacher at Abbey College, said: “We are delighted that our efforts have been recognised by a national organisation. It has acknowledged the extensive efforts made by staff and parents to work together to ensure the best outcomes for our students. We hope this encourages more parents to take a proactive role in Abbey College and our ongoing efforts to support every child’s achievements.”

Staff had to show they understood the importance of engaging parents and carers, and used text messages, social media and parents’ evenings as steps to achieving the award.
