A Fenstanton fundraiser collected thousands of pounds for charity by hosting an auction.
Lisa Halls is taking part in a series of events to raise funds for Children with Cancer UK, and her latest fundraising effort saw an auction held at The Duchess, in Fenstanton, on March 10, raising some £4,105.
An ‘auction of promises’, in which people offered their services locally in a bid to raise more money for the charity, was also held on the night.
And, next month, Lisa will also be running the London Marathon with her friend Nina Watson.
The beauty therapist said: “I did the London Marathon back in 2003 and I vowed that I would never do it again. But then my friend did it last year and raised £5,000 for Children with Cancer UK, and it just made me want to do it again.
“The charity is such a good cause, and I know quite a few people that have either suffered with cancer or know someone that has so really wanted to raise as much money as we can.
“I know that whatever pain I will go through running, it will be nothing compared to what those children will have to go through and that is what will keep me going.

“Everyone was so generous at the auction, with some people bidding £500, and one person even bid £790.”
Lisa also hosted a sponsored wax, where she raised more than £400 by waxing some of the pub locals.
She said: “I can’t believe how many people came to the event. I am just so overwhelmed by all the support.
“We raised twice as much as we thought we would, and myself and Nina are now thinking about trying to get the target up to £10,000.”
