Arsonists struck twice in a residential street in St Neots at the weekend.

A fire crew from the town was called to Viscount Court, Eaton Socon, at 1.49am on Saturday, where a car had been set on fire. They extinguished the flames before returning to base by 2.50am.

At 2.24am this morning (Monday), arsonists attacked the same car, and a second car was affected by heat damage. Two firefighters from a St Neots crew battled the blaze, and were back at their stations by 4.15am. A police spokesman said that somebody was seen running from the location, but the caller could not give a description. Police officers and a SOCO team - which gathers forensic evidence - attended, before leaving at about 6am. He added that the incidents are not being linked at this time.
