The deputy headteacher of a St Neots school is calling on budding actors to audition as he takes the helm for a production of a mystery classic.

Chris Baker is set to make his directorial debut for the St Neots Players with Agatha Christie’s A Murder is Announced. He is holding open auditions to find a cast – with a particular focus on choosing a Miss Marple.

Auditions are at 7.30pm at The Priory Centre, St Neots, on Monday and Wednesday (January 19 and 21). The play will be staged from Thursday, May 21, to Saturday, May 23 at the same venue.

He said: “The play is based in the 1950s with a lavish set and costumes. There are 12 roles - seven for ladies and five for men - and will suit a range of people from newcomers to experienced actors. All are welcome to apply.”
