Protesters against a wind farm at Molesworth will continue their fight next month as they aim to prevent the landscape from being “dominated by turbines”.

A planning appeal by RWE Npower Renewables against the refusal of six turbines starts on December 10, at Pathfinder House, in Huntingdon.

Stop the Molesworth Wind Farm Action Group spokesman Lorna Lane-Ley said: “We believe we are in the right and Huntingdonshire District Council agreed with us by turning down the application.

“These turbines are far too close to houses and will spoil the heritage of the area. As you look at the landscape at the moment all you can see are church spires, but these turbines will dominate the horizon.

“This move on their part is not about solving the great panacea of the world’s energy crisis – it is about making money for the energy company.”

The two-week hearing, which will switch venues to Hinchingbrooke Countryside Centre from December 17, will include a public session on the evening of December 18, from 7pm.

The action group wants people against the plan to register for the session but registration has to be made on the opening day of the inquiry.

The main reasons for refusal include the landscape character and visual impact, as well as the effect on the outlook to three residences, and the effect on wildlife, particularly birds.

The original application was for six three-bladed wind turbines, 126m high to the blade tip.
