Amina Agboola died from a ruptured liver as a result of blunt force trauma, an inquest heard.

The two-year-old died at 12.40pm on Thursday, November 21, following emergency surgery at Peterborough City Hospital.

Paramedics were called to her home in Scotts Drive, Yaxley, at 8.50am, where she was in the care of her mother Sarah Raqueman and her mother’s boyfriend Dean Harris, also of Scotts Drive.

Today (Wednesday), David Morris, coroner for South and West Cambridgeshire, opened an inquest into Amina’s death.

He said he ordered a post mortem examination, which was carried out at St Thomas’ Hospital in London by Professor R A Risdon later on November 21.

Mr Morris told the inquest, at Lawrence Court, Huntingdon, that Amina died of a ruptured liver, caused by blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

The inquest was adjourned, but no set date was arranged for the hearing to continue due to a police investigation.

Harris, a former Sawtry Community College student, has been charged with murder in connection and appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday. He was remanded in custody until a hearing on February 28.

Mr Morris said he granted a request from Harris’s lawyers for a second port mortem examination.

Ms Raqueman was also arrested on November 21, but has been bailed pending further investigation until December 20.
