AN INJURED girl had to be rescued from a brook by firefighters. The incident happened at 4.05pm yesterday (Tuesday), when the ambulance service was called to the rear of the George Hotel in Ramsey. Paramedics were unable to reach the 12-year-old girl, who had slipped at the side of the brook and sustained suspected back and head injuries. The only access to the girl was too steep for paramedics to reach her safely and treat her. Firefighters from Ramsey and Huntingdon were called at 4.35pm. Wearing dry suits, they used an ice rescue path to cross the brook and stretcher the girl to ambulance crews. She was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital by the ambulance service, and fire crews returned to their stations by 5.35pm.
