Jason Dean, of Werrington, in Peterborough, has applied to the authority for permission to use a site in Fenside Road to set up a drive-in cinema with capacity for up to 70 cars. According to Mr Deans submission, the venue will have an American Western theme and stables currently located on site will be converted into storage and for a concessions shop. In his submission, Mr Dean told the council: Cars will arrive on site and will be directed to a parking space on the field. Each row of parking bays will have sufficient space for the cars to manoeuvre, there will also be plenty of room around the perimeter of the site for cars to drive. Ground reinforcement will be in place along all road ways and parking areas marked out on site to ensure that the impact to the environment is minimal. I aim to preserve the natural feel of the site and keeping the grass and ground intact is a big part of that. The site could easily accommodate 100 cars, however I plan to have a maximum capacity of 70 cars per show. Mr Dean said that power to the site would be provided by a generator and that floodlights would be used to welcome cars to the site and to help them when leaving. He added that the floodlights would be turned off during film showings. To find out more about the application, or to have a say, log on to www.huntingdonshire.gov.uk.
