A ST IVES drug addict died after injecting himself and then suffocating on his own vomit, an inquest heard. Police were called to the Hill Close home of Mark Adams in February after he did not answer the door to district nurses who were visiting him to attend to an ulcer. The body of the 52-year-old was found crouched over on the floor on his knees, with drug paraphernalia on a coffee table beside him. An autopsy revealed high levels of opium in his bloodstream. South and West Cambridgeshire deputy coroner Sam Bass ruled Mr Adams, a known drug user and alcoholic, had died while under the effects of opiates.
