A learner driver and instructor escaped injury this morning when their car left the road in Huntingdon and collided with the front of Elphicks furniture shop.
The car mounted the pavement and knocked over a road sign before running into the door area of the shop.
There was extensive damage to the front of the car and the shop’s window was also broken.
It is understood the accident happened in wet conditions as the car went around the sharp bend at the junction from the ring road into George Street opposite Wetherspoon’s pub Sandford House.
A police spokesman said: “We were called at 9.40am this morning (Thursday 16 August) with reports of a collision in George Street, Huntingdon, involving a black Renault Clio.
“The car, a learner vehicle being driven by a learner driver, went through the shop window of Elphicks.”
