Two accidents on major roads caused huge hold-ups for rush-hour drivers this morning.
The first happened on the A1 just north of the Buckden roundabout at 4.10am when a vehicle pulling a trailer containing six pigs hit the central reservation. Both carriageways were closed to allow recovery of the animals, but police said none of the pigs suffered any injury. The driver of the vehicle was also uninjured. The road reopened at 8.10am.
In a separate smash, a minibus collided with a vehicle on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 at 7.15am. The accident happened adjacent to junction 26, the turning for the Hemingfords. There were no injuries and the road was cleared at 7.35am.
