MINISTRY of Defence worker Abdul Saddiq is feeling the draught this week, after having his hair cut for the first time in five years, to raise cash for children’s charity Dreamdrops.

It is the second time Abdul, 36, has had his flowing locks cut to raise money for the charity that supports Holly Ward children's unit at Hinchingbrooke Hospital - bringing his total raised to around £2,300.

"Holly Ward did a fantastic job when my niece was born prematurely," said Abdul, who lives in Huntingdon. "This is my way of saying thank you; my niece is now 11 years old, and doing very well."

Kelly Stowers, the owner of the Streets Ahead salon in Mayfield Road, Huntingdon, cut Abdul's hair on Thursday, free of charge.

Abdul has raised £1,035 so far from this latest venture, but it's not too late to add to the total.

"I have been very grateful to colleagues at RAF Alconbury, and to local businesses who have supported me," added Abdul.

"My family are really chuffed that I had my hair cut, that didn't really like my long hair."
