THE eastbound carriageways of the A14 have been reopened after a three-vehicle collision brought traffic to a standstill this afternoon (Friday).
Police were called to the smash near Boxworth at 12.50pm, and closed both lanes eastbound and one lane westbound while they cleared up debris and oil on the road.
One person was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, and another suffered whiplash.
The vehicles and debris had been cleared by 1.30pm, when the road westbound was reopened.
Police had to release traffic slowly on one lane eastbound to allow the oil clean-up crew to reach the scene, as heavy tailback built up from the incident towards Huntingdon.
A police spokesman confirmed that both carriageways had been reopened at 3.15pm, but that traffic was still moving slowly as the tailbacks cleared.
