More than 300 people visited the museum throughout the day and enjoyed the range of activities on offer, including face painting, crafts, demonstrations, and medieval spinning.Museum volunteers donned historic garb and a band of roaming minstrels toured the town playing music from yesteryear. Museum assistant, Mick Napier said: It was a very good day. We had about 300 people through the doors and plenty going on. It was a great way to celebrate the re-opening. The museum, in The Broadway, closed in December 2015 to allow the refurbishment to take place. The reopening came at the end of a £1.4 million redevelopment that was made possible after the museum received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This Friday at the museum, a series of Marvellous Mosaics events are taking place, from 10.30-11.30am, 12-1pm, and 2-3pm. The cost is £3.50 per session. Booking required on 01480 497314.
