AROUND a third of people living in Godmanchester have signalled their opposition to Bearscroft Farm.

Members of the Godmanchester Residents Against Bearscroft met Jonathan Djanogly MP on Friday to show him their petition signed by almost 2,000 people.

The group was started in July in opposition to the Fairfield Partnership's plans to build 750 homes, shops and a primary school east of the A1198.

Miriam Radford, one of the founding members, said: "We expressed our disappointment and frustration regarding the delay of the upgrade to the A14 which will have a huge impact on the traffic within Godmanchester and particularly the plight of children having to cycle to school. The safety aspect seems not to have had any consideration at all."

She added that Mr Djanogly had understood their concerns, and that the Huntingdon MP had agreed to meet the group again.
