St Neots market square to host live music after upgrade

Particle Community Arts is launching Summer Sessions, a programme of free events in St Neots Market Square running across six Saturdays from June to September.

The series will showcase a wide range of musical genres including pop, soul, jazz, classical, folk and children’s music.

The events will use the "innovative installation" of a new performance stage and multi-use seating, which is expected to be installed this month.

James Tortise-Crawford, chair of Particle Community Arts, said: "We love finding musical acts that will bring something new and exciting to St Neots.

"We also want to inspire people to be creative.

"Experiencing amazing live music in your home town is one of the best ways to do that."

The sessions will begin on Saturday, June 20, and will continue throughout the summer.

The opening concert will feature the bands Passion Parade, Claudia Kate, and Quiet Houses, with Cambridge-based funk and soul group Mr Griff and the Grifters headlining.

Other acts throughout the series include Hetty and the Jazzato Band on July 18, St Neots Big Band on August 1, Graffiti Classics on August 15, Shake, Rattle and Roll on August 29, and The Balkanoes on September 19.

Each concert will run from 1pm to 5pm, except for later dates in the series, which will take place from 1pm to 3pm.

The events are being delivered by Particle Community Arts on behalf of St Neots Town Council, with support from Huntingdonshire District Council and sponsorship from Wintringham St Neots.

Catherine Goodman, Mayor of St Neots, said: "Our large Market Square is one of the town’s best assets.

"That’s why the Town Council is investing in events that use the Square to bring the community together.

"It’s about creating an atmosphere where people feel pride in their town, want to celebrate it with each other, and to invite others to see us at our best."
