A new Mayor of Huntingdon has been appointed following the town council's annual meeting.
Councillor Patrick Kadewere was elected for the 2025-26 term on Thursday May 14.
The long-serving councillor, who has represented the town since 2011, previously served as deputy mayor and is active in the community through initiatives such as the Oxmoor Community Fridge.
Cllr Kadewere said: "A year ago, this council placed it's trust and confidence in me by electing me as your deputy mayor.
"Since that day, I have worked tirelessly, honestly and with dedication to represent the people of Huntingdon to the very best of my ability.
"Now elected as mayor, I will serve every resident of Huntingdon with pride, integrity and commitment."
Cllr Freya Cushman, the youngest member of the council, was elected as deputy mayor.
She joined the council in May 2026 and has lived in Huntingdon all her life.
Cllr Cushman said: "It is a real honour to be elected as deputy mayor.
"I’m proud to represent Huntingdon and to support the mayor in serving our community.
"I hope my appointment, alongside our other younger councillors, encourages more young people to get involved in local democracy; it shows that there is an opportunity to make a positive contribution to where they live."
Outgoing mayor Cllr Audrey McAdam presented cheques to her three charities: Woodgreen Animal Centre, Huntingdon Neurotherapy Centre, and Friends of St Mary’s Church Restoration fund.
She thanked former councillors Sarah Gifford, Padrica Kennington, and Ann Blackwell for their support.
Cllr McAdam also announced the nine nominees for the 2026 Mayor of Huntingdon Community Shield and presented the award to Paul Sweeney for his contributions to the community.
