A Huntingdonshire pupil has been praised for organising and DJing a school disco.
Year 4 student Eric Wyatt at Brington Primary School planned and delivered the event as part of a scheme to develop confidence and leadership.
He was given the opportunity after pitching the idea to headteacher Mrs Kirsty Baish earlier this term, arriving at her office with a laptop and notebook to present a detailed proposal.
He covered everything from equipment and ticket pricing to refreshments and hall layout.
Mrs Baish said: "When Eric came to me with his plan, I was incredibly proud of his self-belief and ambition.
"At Brington, we encourage our children to take initiative and develop leadership skills.
"Eric demonstrated all of our STAR values in action."
With the support of school staff, Eric took the lead in organising the whole event.
He helped set up the hall and made sure it was an enjoyable and inclusive evening for all pupils.
On the night, he DJed from behind the decks as music and lights created a lively atmosphere.
His efforts were a hit with classmates, one of whom said: "Eric showed us that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
"It was so much fun."
Eric’s father said the event meant a lot to his son.
He said: "Eric really enjoyed the opportunity to organise and DJ his own school disco.
"He’s always creating music at home and practising DJing, hoping one day to follow his dream.
"This meant so much to him, and it was a total success."
