A pre-school has officially become part of a primary school.
Godmanchester Pre-school, located on the site of Godmanchester Bridge Academy in Huntingdon, is now under the management of the CAM Academy Trust and fully integrated into the school community.
Claire Pirrie, headteacher at Godmanchester Bridge Academy, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Godmanchester Pre-school fully into our academy family, allowing us to offer a seamless educational journey from pre-school through to primary school.
"By integrating the pre-school into the school structure, families will benefit from a more cohesive approach to teaching, learning and pastoral care.
"This change allows us to build even stronger foundations for our youngest learners, ensuring they experience a consistent, high-quality environment from the very start of their education."
Previously operated by the Early Years Alliance, the pre-school will now be managed by the same trust as the academy, extending the school’s age range to include children from two to 11.
The merger aims to create a smoother transition for pupils entering Reception, with shared values, a unified curriculum, and opportunities for greater collaboration among staff.
The change will secure the long-term future of pre-school provision on the school site and there will be enhanced oversight, quality assurance and professional development.
There will be no disruption to the current provision, with familiar staff and routines remaining at the heart of the pre-school experience.
Sam Sinclair, manager of Godmanchester Pre-school, said: "This is a very positive and exciting step for us and we are delighted to be a full part of the Godmanchester Bridge family.
"Our pre-school will continue to offer a nurturing, play-based approach to learning, while benefiting from the wider resources, facilities and support of the school.
"Bringing the pre-school fully into the academy also ensures long-term stability and continued investment in early years provision."
