The long-awaited reopening of a community swimming pool is coming soon, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony planned to mark the occasion.

People are invited to One Leisure Sawtry to celebrate the re-opening of the pool with a free Open Weekend on March 28 and 29.

The pool closed in 2022 due to escalating financial pressures and low usage.

In 2025, a £600,000 investment was secured by Huntingdonshire District Council, the Community Infrastructure Levy, Merdian Trust and Sawtry Village Academy to get the pool back open.

The Open Weekend will have a range of activities suitable for all ages, including Floats and Fun swim lessons, lane swimming, family swims and more.

The pool will officially reopen on March 28 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1pm.

Cllr Sally Howell, Executive Member for Communities, Health and Leisure, said: "Reopening Sawtry Swimming Pool is an important moment for the local community, and the Open Weekend gives everyone the chance to come along, take part in free activities and join us as we officially mark the pool’s return."

Spaces for the Open Weekend activities are free but must be booked in advance.

Gym sessions are not included in the weekend activities.
