One Leisure Sawtry confirm reopening for spring 2026

The One Leisure in Sawtry closed in 2022, after escalating costs and low usage of the swimming pool.

A £600,000 investment was needed to restore the pool and get the building back up and running for people to use after calls from the community to bring it back to life.

In April 2025 it was announced that the council had managed to raise the funds through a combined investment between Huntingdonshire District Council, the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), the Meridian Trust and Sawtry Village Academy.

The secured funding meant that plans to restore the building could move forward, with proposals for specialist pool plant equipment, the reconnection of the air handling and hot water systems, a new pool cover and improved accessibility.

Now, One Leisure, which is operated by Huntingdonshire District Council, has confirmed that the Sawtry centre will re-open in spring 2026.

In a statement, a spokesperson for One Leisure said: "The reopening of your local One Leisure Sawtry isn't just about a building - it's about bringing people together.

"From swimming lessons that build confidence, to fitness sessions that boost wellbeing, to family swims that create lasting memories - this centre will once again be a hub for health, connection and community pride.

"And with a newly refurbished swimming pool, there's never been a better time to dive back in.

"We can't wait to welcome you back in spring 2026."

Principal at Sawtry Village Academy, Mr Simon Parsons, previously said the return of the One Leisure is "fantastic news" not only for students, but the wider community too.

"Swimming is a vital life skill", he said.
