A double murder in which a father and son were shot at their homes in two Cambridgeshire villages is set to feature in a two-part special of a popular TV show.
24 Hours in Police Custody followed DCI Katie Dounias as her team in the major crime unit investigated the shootings on the evening of March 29 in 2023.
Stephen Alderton, 67, shot Joshua Dunmore, 32, twice in the hallway of his home in Meridian Close, Bluntisham.
Thirty-one minutes later, he shot Gary Dunmore, 57, three times in the hallway of his home in The Row, Sutton, near Ely.
The gripping episode, titled 'A Family Vendetta', follows the case from the first emergency call to the second shooting, and then the manhunt and dramatic arrest of Alderton by firearms officers on the M5 near Worcester in the early hours of the following morning.
It then shows how, through further arrests and witness statements, detectives built up a picture of a family dispute that resulted in tragedy.

Alderton admitted two counts of murder in June 2023 and was jailed for life.
DCI Dounias said: “This programme will show how a family conflict playing itself out through the courts turned into a double tragedy through Stephen Alderton’s rash and brutal actions.
“My thoughts remain with the family and friends of Gary and Josh, some of whom bravely shared their experience with 24 Hours and bring to life the devastating impact of the shootings.
“Alderton’s sentence was raised on appeal to a minimum of 30 years, but no sentence is sufficient to make amends for the irreparable damage he caused to so many lives.”
24 Hours in Police Custody: 'A Family Vendetta', is due be shown at 9pm on Channel 4 on Monday and Tuesday (December 8 and 9).
