Winter weather in Huntingdonshire from 1915 to 1982

As draw closer to Christmas, we are looking through the Cambridgeshire Community Archive Network to see the sorts of winter weather we used to get nearly 100 years ago.

This image in the archive was taken at Whitehall Convalescent Hospital, in Sawtry, and shows two soldiers playing in the snow some time between 1915 and 1918.

The hospital was set up in the First World War and is now known as Coppingford Hall.

Another photo captures a father and son toboggining along the side of the road in 1982.

The pair told the newspaper that at the time, "it was the only way to travel" through the heavy snow.

In St Neots, a now-unrecognisable Market Square was covered in thick snow in 1969.

The cars were left stuck during the snowfall.
