Babita Paul, founder of New Chapter Nutrition, talks about challenges in the workplace and supporting colleagues.

Recently, a routine dental appointment revealed an invisible old, infected root canal.

Dental work 18 years ago during my wild travels in South America.

Oddly, I’ve had no pain, nothing too visible on the surface, but a real problem lies beneath.

This simple dental appointment turned into a profound reflection on health, well-being, and the importance of looking beneath the surface.

It struck me how often we (and our colleagues) seem "fine" at work, while deeper challenges go unnoticed.

Just as my tooth needed more than a surface fix (looks like an extraction!), our workplaces need to delve deep to address root causes around taboo or avoidance on topics such as menopause, mental health, or chronic illness.

Supporting employees at a deeper level leads to heightened well-being, retention, and performance at work and at home.

The parallels around supporting people at work are clear to see.

On the surface, many employees seem to manage just fine.

But research shows that, beneath the polished exterior, there can be significant pain, discomfort, or anxiety that goes unseen and, too often, unsupported.

Managers!

Are you aware of the tears before (and after) work?

Perimenopause causes many women to feel like they are becoming a failure.

Women can be extremely overwhelm by the smallest of changes or extra demand, exhausted, hot and bothered as well as anxious all the time; often wondering if they are cut out for their jobs anymore.

It isn’t failure – it is something real that many woman go through, but few talk about.

Feeling a shadow of one's old self is no fun!

It is exactly the reason I go into supporting businesses educating staff teams and managers of the impact of perimenopause but also giving them real solutions to problems they may not even realise they have.

I know that women are falling through the gaps and businesses are losing experienced talent along the way.

I specialise in staff and manger menopause awareness trainings and would be delighted to have a chat with your workplace even if you don’t employ women as the improvements in personal life experience also touch other parts of our lives.
