A major restoration project to restore a swimming pool has made progress.
Over the summer months, surveys were drawn up for the work that is due to be carried out at Sawtry Swimming Pool.
The planned improvements at the pool include a brand new pool lining, a rebuilt pool plant room, reinstated water services, a new pool cover and a pool hoist for improved accessibility.
The procurement process is now underway and work will start soon.
The project has been funded with £600,000 from Huntingdonshire District Council, the Meridian Trust, and Sawtry Village Academy.
£360,000 was approved from the Community Infrastructure Levy, with the additional funding coming from the three parties.
The aim is to get the swimming pool back open in Spring 2026.
The One Leisure team at Huntingdonshire District Council will oversee the operations at the pool.
However, the council has advised that this timeline may adjust as the works progress.
Sawtry Swimming Pool closed in 2022 as a result of escalating financial pressures and low usage.
