A Christmas Message from Nick Dean, the Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire Police.
For many the festive season is an opportunity to slow down and enjoy time with family and friends but for us it is very much business as usual as we continue our work to keep the county safe.
Our road policing officers are out 24/7 targeting those driving under the influence of drink and drugs.
We have additional officers on shift in the evenings to police the busier nights in our towns and cities, providing reassurance to all those enjoying the night-time economy.
The demand hub team continues to answer your calls as we manage the seasonal increase in demand, and our investigative teams as always support those who unfortunately become a victim of crime.
All our officers and staff work continuously to ensure the county is kept safe over this busy period.
It's also the time of year to reflect on the past 12 months and our achievements.
A year when we saw 101 new police officer recruits pass out, answered more than 145,000 emergency calls, and saw significant jail sentences for the most serious criminals.
Overall crime is down and we continue to deliver results right across the county.
I am immensely proud of the officers, staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to serve our communities.
Every person makes a valuable contribution, and I am extremely grateful for all their hard work, which will continue into 2025 and beyond.
I am also very grateful for the public’s support, without whom we could not do our job.
Finally, I wish everyone in Cambridgeshire a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
