EYNESBURY ROVERS 3 - GODMANCHESTER ROVERS 3
Fraelias Mienambolo came off the subs bench and netted a stoppage time equaliser as Eynesbury recovered a 1-3 deficit to snatch a point at the death.
Earlier Axel Owusu scored to make it 2-3 just a minute after replacing the unfortunate Stevan Shaw, who was stretchered off with a knee injury.
Owusu ghosted past two defenders before firing the ball into the roof of the net for his first goal for the club.
Earlier in the game Victor Osobu had four chances to score for Eynesbury but could not find a way past Ben Newton in the visitors’ goal.
His first effort was an overhead kick which went over the bar before Newton pushed a close range shot behind for a corner.
In the ninth minute he was through on goal but after knocking the ball beyond the keeper he couldn’t keep his shot down and soon after he combined with Max Kimpton but his goal bound shot struck a defender and went behind for a corner.
Against the run of play Godmanchester took a 17th minute lead when they broke down the right flank.
The ball was delivered to the far corner of the edge of the box and Josh Hales scored with a low drive.
Nathan Mullings had a chance to equalise before the break when he was sent clear through the centre but his shot was saved by Newton’s outstretched leg.
After Kimpton saw his shot saved by the keeper and Atif Khan fired narrowly over for Godmanchester there was a crazy period of three goals in just four minutes.
Marcel Rzeszutek started the ball rolling netting a 57th minute equaliser, his first goal for the club, with a shot inside the penalty area into the far corner of the goal.
Two minutes later Ricki Goodale scored direct from a 22 yard free kick and on the hour mark a low Ben Arnold strike beat Ryan Hunter to put the visitors 3-1 up.
Halfway through the half Owusu offered some hope with his fine solo goal and Mienambolo scorned a good opportunity to equalise after Osobu had knocked the ball past Newton, who had come to the edge of his box, and squared the ball to the striker but he could only divert it wide.
In the 82nd minute a long range shot from former Eynesbury player Tom Spark struck the crossbar and Hales follow up shot was easily saved.
That missed chance to go 4-2 up proved costly as in the 93rd minute Osobu was played in down the right wing.
He played the ball to Rzeszutek on the edge of the penalty area and his miscued shot was turned in at the far post by Mienambolo.
Next up for Eynesbury is an Isuzu FA Vase tie at home to Lakenheath on Saturday 24th August, kick off 3.00pm.
