A drug dealer has been jailed after he caught the attention of police when he ran a red light.
Neighbourhood officers were on patrol on the A14 on the evening of July 21 when they spotted Cristian Sirbu skip the traffic light on the Histon roundabout.
The 31-year-old was pulled over and spoken to before checks revealed he was wanted by the courts. While being arrested, officers noticed drug paraphernalia in his car.
Sirbu’s car was then searched and officers found cigarette boxes containing white powder and cannabis wraps. Further bags of powder and cannabis were also found in the glove box.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Monday May 13, Sirbu, of no fixed address, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of ecstasy and ketamine, possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis.
PC James Good, from the Neighbourhood Support Team, said: “We see first-hand the devastation drug dealers have on our communities.
“We hope this sentence sends a clear message that drug dealing in Cambridgeshire is not welcome and we’ll continue to target those who seek to profit from the suffering of others.”
