May Day celebrations in Eaton Socon will place on Monday, May 6 this year.

The event, on Eaton Socon Green, will include entertainment, stalls and the crowning of the crowing of the 2024 May Queen.

Eaton Socon Community Association (ESCAN) which organises the event, says maypole dancing will be back this year.

"We have a a great line-up of entertainers and for the first time for many years, there will be traditional maypole dancing," said the group in the latest ESCAN magazine.

Some entertainers will be familiar to you and some are new faces. There will also be a good selection of stalls providing food, games and a variety of merchandise."

The new May Queen or King and May princesses, who will attend local events for the next 12 months, will also be announced on the day.

And the Community Cup will be presented to someone in the community who is judged to "go the extra mile to make a real difference to the lives of many in the Eatons."

The event runs from 12pm to 4pm and takes place on Eaton Socon Green, in front of St Mary's Church. 

The new May Queen or King will be crowned at 2pm and the Community Cup will be presented at 3pm The raffle will be drawn at 4pm.

Other Eaton Socon events

The Eaton Socon cage will be open on Sunday, May 26, Sunday June 30 and Sunday, July 28, from 2pm till 5pm. Admission is free.

Eaton Open Gardens takes place in Sunday, June 9, from 1.30pm till 5.30pm.

Spend some time exploring local gardens and have some tea along the way. Programmes will be available from Eaton Socon Green, from 1pm. Cost is £3 per person.
