The new Mayor of Huntingdon is set to be announced after Huntingdon Town Council members cast a vote.

Members of Huntingdon Town Council voted on Thursday, April 25.

At the annual Mayor Making Ceremony on May 2, the new Mayor will be announced for the next local government year.

A record number of 84 nominations have been received for the Shield, which will be given to a Huntingdon resident who has given outstanding service to the local community.

Town Councillors, former Mayors, Civic Dignitaries and charity representatives will all be present at the ceremony, which will take place at 7pm on May 2 at Huntingdon Town Hall.

Stuart Orme, Curator of the Cromwell Museum, will also be in attendance to pay the annual "Peppercorn" rent to the Town Council.

Cheque presentations will also be made to six charities.
