38 pubs across Cambridgeshire came together to take part in the Rotary Club of St Ives Charity Pub Quiz, which raised a whopping £3,500 for various causes.

The quiz took place on Thursday, March 28 and it saw over 700 participants take part.

Of the 38 pubs that took part, The Three Horseshoes at Wistow took home the 'Largest Team' prize after 51 people stepped up to represent the pub.

Their prize was £200 to go to their chosen charity, which was The Malcolm Whales Foundation, a cancer charity.

Special mention goes to The Anchor Inn at Wimblington who had 42 quizzers on their team.

The big winners of the night were The Axe and Compass at Hemingford Abbots, who scored an impressive 191 points out of 195.

They won £300 which is to be donated to the Brain Tumour Research Charity, and an anonymous donor will be matching the £300 for the charity as well.

Lakeside Lodge Golf Club came second, and won £200 to be split between their two chosen charities, Dementia UK and Marie Curie.

Other charities that were chosen by Cambridgeshire pubs include Help for Heroes, Friends of Paxton Pits, and the East Anglia Air Ambulance.

Pubs in Buckden, Ramsey, Godmanchester, Alconbury and Warboys all took part, and it was a great night for them all to get together.

The St Ives Rotary Club members wrote out the questions and acted as the quizmasters on the night, as well as keeping all of the scores.

The event was sponsored by Peter Lane Estate Agents, who also provided 12 bottles of wine for The Axe and Compass, the winners of the night.

They also donated six bottles of wine to the second place winners, the Lakeside Lodge Golf Club.
