A 1949 edition of The Hunts Post was discovered in a 1920s bowler cap at a Barnardo's shop in St Neots.

The front page was discovered by Joshua O'Keeffe who works in the Barnardo's at Loves Farm in the town.

Joshua took in the donation of the bowler cap, and upon inspection, found half of the front page tucked inside the sweatband of the cap.

The page is from September 15 1949, and has some very interesting stories inside.

Upon discovering the copy, Joshua said: "I found the bowler cap while searching through donations.

"Vintage clothing is a rare find, so it's always a great thing to see, but whilst inspecting it I found the paper in the sweatband.

"I'm always interested in local history, and for me this was a magnificent find.

"I always feel a sense of joy when I come across these things whilst working, and it's so great to see how people lived back then and how things have changed in such a large gap of time."
