Hunts Community Cancer Network (HCCN) has been featured in The Hunts Post throughout March, here is the final piece from Katie Kitson.

We are at a crucial point for HCCN. We have previously been called Huntingdonshire’s best kept secret and as a result, we are starting to update our material and expand our voice so more people are aware of the support available to them.

Expanding our awareness naturally increases our overheads, but it means that more people can benefit from what we offer. We also hope that by expanding awareness, more people will consider us if they are looking to do a charity fundraiser.

With more than 10,000 people in Huntingdonshire diagnosed with cancer (a growing number), HCCN is under increased pressure to raise more money.

There are many ways you can help us. From letting those on a cancer journey know about us, to supporting us in one of the many ways listed below.

Easter

We currently have two Easter campaigns running; a raffle which is being drawn on March 29 (tickets are available on our website), and knitted chicks filled with cream eggs (made by our members and supporters of HCCN).

These are available from The Priory Centre and FBI in St Neots, The White Hart, in Warboys, Beacon Wealth Management, in Kimbolton, The Woodlands at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and our drop-in groups.

HCCN BIG Afternoon Tea

During the month of May, we are asking people to host their own afternoon teas, they can be as small or as big as you like, but the important thing is to have fun.

We are also hosting our own BIG Afternoon Tea at Buckden Towers walled garden, on Sunday, May 12, from 3.30pm – 6pm. Tickets available on our website from April 2.

Charity Ball

Our annual Charity Ball this year takes place on Saturday, September 14, at the Marriott Huntingdon Hotel. Tickets are available direct from HCCN nurse Mel, or by emailing: fundraising@hccnthecharity.org, and further details are on our website.

Sporting Events

For the first time, we are working with sporting events and currently have spaces available for the London Big Half, and the Vitality London 10k, both in September.

If you are already taking part in events and would like to do so in aid of us, please get in touch and we would love to support you in any way possible.

Sponsorship

We have a number of sponsorship opportunities available too, from sponsoring items at events, such as our charity ball, to nurses’ equipment and more. Every single penny plays a massive part in what we can offer.

Volunteers

We are also in desperate need of volunteers. We need people to help out at local community events, support new programmes, help behind the scenes, with eBay and more.

Manpower is so important for any charity, and at the moment we have a fantastic team, but some are being stretched quite thin, so we would really appreciate your support.

Regular Donations

We also run a 100 Lottery which has spaces available, and we absolutely love it when people decide to donate to us on a regular basis. (Details for both are on our website).

The above are just a few ways you can currently help us to continue providing the free support to those in our local area, however, there are new opportunities popping up all the time and details can be found on our website and Facebook page.

Thank You

We would like to say a massive 'thank you' to The Hunts Post for giving us the opportunity to share HCCN’s story with you during March, and another huge 'thank you' to every single one of our supporters, old, current and new.

We couldn’t do what we do, without your support, and for that we will always be forever grateful. To find out more about HCCN visit their website: (www.hccnthecharity.org) and Facebook page (@HuntsCommunityCancerNetwork), or alternatively get in touch with Katie via: fundraising@hccnthecharity.org.
