A child was injured in a hit-and-run collision in Warboys this afternoon (Saturday).

A call came into police just before 4.30pm, reporting a 12-year-old girl had been hit by a car in the High Street and the driver had failed to stop.

The girl suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and has been taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Sergeant Duncan Hall, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing Unit, said: “We believe the car involved is a dark-coloured old shape Nissan Micra and was travelling from the direction of the clock tower end of the High Street, towards the junction with the pond in the middle of the village, when it hit the girl who was crossing the road.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who has information about who the driver is, or who witnessed the collision, as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information or dash-cam footage should report online or call 101 quoting incident 326 of February 24.
