Cambridgeshire food reviewer Lucy Melton shares her thoughts on The River Terrace in St Ives

One of my favourite places to go for brunch in the local area is The River Terrace in St Ives.

This has a beautiful location along the river (hence the name). In the warmer months, the great seating outside on the terrace looks over the river and the ancient gantry bridge, but even sitting inside you will get the great views.

This 16th Century building is really charming, and you get a truly cosy feeling inside. I would recommend booking before going as it does get really busy, especially at the weekends.

I have visited here a few times and always get stuck on what to order as they have such a great menu, and the menu also gets updated often so they always have new dishes added. This always makes the decision even harder!

I will start with the savoury dishes I have had. The full English was great - good quality sausages and nice streaky bacon with a good amount of scrambled egg.

The Turkish eggs with added chorizo were amazing, the yogurt that came with it mixed in well and it was served with a huge warm flatbread which tasted great and was perfect for dipping.

I loved that I could add chorizo as it gave it a great flavour. I have also had eggs benedict with goats’ cheese, spinach & red pesto, lovely poached eggs and it paired great with the goat’s cheese, but it needed a bit more red pesto.

My friend's croque monsieur always looks amazing and they always say it tastes good, I will definitely have to try one of these in the future.

For the sweet, I shared the lemon meringue waffles which were absolutely delicious, plenty of lemon curd and the meringue was lightly toasted - so good!

The iced caramel lattes here are always tasty and full of flavour too.

They also have a great selection of sweet bakes including cookies, brownies and flapjacks to eat in or take-away and they always look amazing!
