The Sports Academy @ Hunts County Squash Club hosted the first of two England Squash junior squash competitions, attracting young talent from across the region eager to enhance their national rankings.

The Hunts County Junior Open featured age categories ranging from U11 to U17, providing a platform for gaining competition experience and the displaying their squash skills.

In an strong field for a tournament of this size, players battled throughout the day with notable achievements for the homegrown talents.

Among the standout performances was the triumph of Hunts County's own Sammy Walsh in the U11 category, who secured victory without dropping a single game.

Walsh also participated in the U13 event, narrowly losing to the runner-up, Callum Calvert, a fellow Sports Academy player.

The U15 category witnessed an enthralling final, with Kieran Weston-Favell coming from a game behind to claim victory on his home courts.

Meanwhile, in the U17 event, Jess Rainbow from Swavesey SC demonstrated remarkable skill, finishing as the runner-up after a closely contested battle against Alayna Buswell from Boston.

The Hunts County Junior Open not only provided a great stage for competition but also offered local talent from Cambridgeshire the chance to participate in national events close to home.
