The Huntingdon power cut was first reported at around 8:30am on January 24.

It has left several shops on Huntingdon High Street without power, and as a result, some shops have had to close until power is restored.

In a Facebook post, Huntingdon First said: "We are aware that many shops and services along the High Street are without power.

"National Grid are aware and it's a wide issue, not just centred in Huntingdon."

According to the UK Power Networks website, the unexpected power cut was caused by an "underground electricity cable" which has faulted, causing an area wide power cut.

The website states: "We estimate your power will be back on by January 24, between 10:30 and 11:30."
