Alconbury Weald is hosting its annual Community Wellbeing Day on January 20 to give residents and those living in the area a chance to try some of the regular sports and fitness classes taking place at the development.

This year’s programme, which is taking place in The Pavilion community centre, includes a range of fitness and wellbeing activities to support healthy bodies and minds.

Free classes include:

  • yoga to improve flexibility, strength and concentration
  • Tai Chi and Chi Kung exploring relaxation and states of awareness
  • Menofit pilates to support fitness and wellbeing through all stages of the menopause
  • RightStart strength and balance for more mature people and those requiring additional support.

Reflexology is also available for £10 a session.

The team from Mind Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire (CPSL) will also be holding a Calm Spaces session, which offers a place to find guidance on self-help techniques such as mindfulness to help you to ‘ground yourself’ and feel better – both in ‘the moment’ and in the future.

Rebecca Britton, communities and partnerships Director for Urban&Civic, said: “The opportunity to enjoy a healthy lifestyle is embedded in the design principles of Alconbury Weald.

“From the extensive footpaths and cycleways throughout the development to the gym in The Club, exercise classes in The Pavilion and regular sporting activities, there is lots of choice for all ages and abilities.

“Our Community Wellbeing Day is always really popular and a great way to try something new or have a go at an activity to find the right fit before signing up for regular sessions. We hope to see lots of new faces at this year’s event.”

The Community Wellbeing Day is open to everyone, but spaces are limited and need to be booked in advance on EventBrite (search for ‘Alconbury Weald’).
