As the schools broke up for the holidays, community events and activities kept families entertained throughout the summer months. 

Loyal Camp Beagle campaigners marked two years of their continued activism outside MBR Acres, in Wyton.  

And in July, a team of models, including a Babestation host, joined them to stage a bikini protest and helped raise awareness of the issue.

(Image: Newsquest)Godmanchester’s Gala weekend kicked off with a Kings and Queens-themed gala parade. This year, Robbie Williams and Elton John tribute acts entertained the crowds.

(Image: Lamont Images)Huntingdon’s first Pirate Day was enjoyed by thousands of families and the St Ives Carnival and Music returned with a magical weekend of entertainment. 

Towards the end of the month, a 94-year-old experienced his first ever flight – in a glider.  

Fred Palmer, from March, even took over the controls for some time during the experience at an open day hosted by The Nene Valley Gliding Club in Upwood.

(Image: James Erskine)In August, The Little Paxton Garden Railway also opened its doors once again for the public to marvel at the stunning 32-metre display.   

The family of its creator, the late David Keatley, has been hosting open days since 2009 and this year raised funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. 

Huntingdon Carnival and Live in the Park was another very successful event, with bright colours, live music and even a flypast!

Michael Jarvis, from St Ives, was downsizing and offered the stunning layout to The Ramsey 1940s Camp. 

Meanwhile, retired vicar Reverend Clifford Owen completed an incredible 900-mile cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise funds for his home church in Hartford.  

The Huntingdon Community Cancer Nurses reached its 10-year anniversary and Abbey College, Ramsey, was awarded the LGBTQ+ rainbow flag award for its commitment to inclusion and diversity.
