More teacher strikes that were provisionally set to take place at St Ivo Academy before Christmas have been called off.

Members of the NASUWT teaching union were due to walk out over five dates this week and next in a dispute over working conditions.

But this latest set of strike dates have been put on hold while talks between the union and the school continue.

The Astrea Academy Trust – which runs St Ivo Academy – says parents and students have been informed of this latest development.

Tony Meneaugh, St Ivo’s Interim Principal said: “This is very positive news for the whole St Ivo community.

“Both Astrea and NASUWT came to the recent round of discussions in good faith, and both sides were able to find room for compromise and agreement.

“We will, of course, continue to engage closely with our union colleagues, including through the various consultations and look forward to constructive engagement.”

The trust says when previous teaching strike action happened last month, the school remained open as normal and lessons ran as scheduled.
