A Huntingdonshire company rallied the support of local businesses to raise thousands of pounds to replace Cambs Therapy Centre's failing heating system.

Spirotech Group, based in Sawtry, were made aware of the issues in May and learned that the centre had faced some major challenges.

These included challenges from the pandemic, the soaring price of energy, and now a failing heating system which wouldn’t last anther winter.

The centre's chairman, Tim Barke, was concerned for the future and their ability to continue to provide the much-needed service for MS patients and their families.

He said the new boilers and repairs to the heating system would cost around £30,000 - funds they simply didn’t have.

Without any local or government funding, they felt helpless.

The board at Spirotech then decided they couldn’t see a local charity in the community face the possibility of closure.

Russell Gadsby, director of Spirotech, said: "After explaining the issues to one of our clients, EPS Ltd, another local company, we both agreed to help.

"After a meeting with the centre, it was agreed Spirotech group and EPS would fund the new boiler system and the centre would fund the installation cost.

"To help with the installation costs, our local community stepped in by arranging a fund-raising garden party and a sponsored walk.

"The result of local business and the community working to together has meant the centre now has a new heating system ready for the winter months.

"All the team at Spirotech are immensely proud to have been part of making this much-needed project happen.

"Spirotech Group will continue to help and support the therapy centre going forward."

Cambs Therapy Centre is located at Bradbury House, Mayfield Road, Huntingdon, PE29 1UL.
