Hugh Muir, of Huntingdon Male Voice Choir, talks about the choir's recent appointment of a new musical director, and how people can join.

Huntingdon Male Voice Choir, now performing as Huntingdon Male Voices, is now in its 61st year.

Over the years, the choir has had some notable successes and high points, including providing the pre-match entertainment for rugby finals at Twickenham and Wembley.

We often perform at fundraising events for local good causes, and each year we also select a dedicated charity to support.

At the choir’s 60th anniversary concert last November, the musical director (MD) for some 28 years retired, and the choir embarked on a lengthy process to recruit a new MD.

We are pleased to announce that we have secured the services of Leanne Singh-Levett.

The Hunts Post:

Leanne has an impressive pedigree, having worked with the Royal College of Music, the English National Opera and Opera North, to name but a few.

The choir’s first concert under her direction will be at the Commemoration Hall, Huntingdon, on November 11.

The choir is always seeking new members, and anyone interested in joining can either check out the 'joining' page on the choir website or just turn up at a rehearsal.

The choir rehearses at 7.30pm each Thursday evening at St Mary’s Parish Hall in Huntingdon (opposite the bus station).

There are no formal auditions; all you may need to do is sing a few notes to the MD to determine which of the four choir parts will suit you best.

You are welcome to come along for a week or two to see if HMVC is for you.
