Firefighters endured a busy two days in Huntingdonshire dealing with two deliberate vehicle fires and one accidental house fire.

Fire crews from Huntingdon, Sawtry, St Neots and Cambridge were called to the first blaze at 11.14am on Friday, October 27, on Mill Road in Buckden,

Firefighters arrived to find a fire on the first floor of a detached house, which was spreading to the roof.

Wearing breathing apparatus, they extinguished the accidental fire using a hose reel and a jet and returned to their stations by 2.15pm.

Deliberate vehicle fires

Later that evening, a fire crew from Chatteris was called at 9.55pm to a fire on the B1050 near Somersham.

Firefighters arrived to find a van on fire and extinguished it with hoses reels using breathing apparatus, returning to their station by 11.30pm.

The following day (October 28) at 7.44pm, a crew from Huntingdon, along with a crew from Thrapston in Northamptonshire, were called to a fire near the A14.

Firefighters arrived to find a car on fire off the westbound carriageway near Easton, and again, wearing breathing apparatus, they extinguished the fire using hose reels and returned to their stations by 10pm.

According to the fire service, the cause of both fires was deliberate
