Supporters from Peterborough and Cambridge United have been revealed as being involved in some of the most football-related arrests out of all clubs in League One.

Data from the Home Office showed that 35 Peterborough United fans and 25 Cambridge United fans were arrested at games across the 2022/23 season.

Peterborough fans were the joint most-arrested fanbase in League One, alongside Bolton Wanderers, whereas Cambridge United fans ranked as the sixth most-arrested supporters group at matches out of the 24 teams in the league.

Many of those arrests came from Peterborough United's 1-0 derby win at the Weston Homes Stadium against Cambridge United on October 29, 2022.

Following disorder between fans at the game, Cambridgeshire Constabulary launched an investigation, resulting in 47 people being identified and interviewed.

Eighteen Cambridge United fans were arrested, accounting for 72 per cent of their football-related arrests during the season.

Thirteen fans were arrested for public disorder, four for possession of pyrotechnics and one for causing thousands of pounds worth of criminal damage to the Peterborough stadium.

During the same game, 23 Peterborough fans were arrested, accounting for 66 per cent of their football-related arrests.

Twenty-two were arrested for public disorder, whilst one was arrested for violent disorder.

Posh fans were arrested at ten other games during the season for offences that also included throwing missiles.

Cambridge United fans were arrested at three other games, with five arrests for public disorder at the Lincoln City match in Lincoln on January 28, 2023.

Peterborough United's supporters were highlighted as showing a 75 per cent increase in arrests from the previous season, with only 20 fans arrested at matches in 2021/22 when they played in the Championship.

More Cambridge United fans were also arrested in 2022/23 than the previous season, with only 21 arrests made at matches during the 2021/22 season.
