Tom Bellamy and Emma Lavelle proved the combination to follow at Huntingdon Racecourse on Tuesday October 19 after teaming up to secure a 10-1 double which was completed by Gold Link in the feature Racing TV Novices’ Handicap Chase.

Waiting tactics appeared to work the trick on the 13-8 joint favourite who got up almost on the line to defeat Enemenemynemo by a neck in the extended two miles and three furlongs prize and add to his previous victory over fences at Stratford in July.

Bellamy said: “He was a bit of a bridesmaid through the early part of his career, and he missed a good bit through injury as well.

“He won at Stratford earlier in the year and things didn’t go to plan at Warwick last time, but it is good to get him back to form.

“It was great to get his head in front again and it was a lovely opportunity found by Emma.”

Having played a waiting game aboard Gold Link, the decision to adopt a front running role helped Tedwin Hills (100-30) provide Bellamy with one of his most rewarding results in recent times in the Fairfax Saddles Sponsors Huntingdon Jockeys Championship Handicap Chase.

Without a win in his nine previous starts the Getaway gelding finally managed to get his head in front when accounting for his last time out Market Rasen conqueror Great D’Ange by 10 lengths in the extended two miles and seven furlongs prize to complete both Bellamy’s and Lavelle’s brace.

Bellamy said: “Big winners are what you want, and I’ve had a few, but I’ve got to admit that was one of my favourite rides in recent times.

“Both the owner (Scott Turner) and Emma have been ultra patient, and it has paid off. We came up with a plan to keep things simple and take away any complications and it has come together.”
