Thousands of gin-lovers across the country will be enjoying the flavours of the Cambridgeshire woodlands and countryside in their G&T’s this month (September).

It comes after Roundwood Distillery, based on the edge of Wennington Wood near Huntingdon, was chosen from hundreds of world-class gin producers across the globe to create the gin of the month for the UK’s largest gin subscription club, Craft Gin Club.

Husband and wife Emily and Rupert Waters will see their new exclusive gin, Fireside Gin, landing on the doorsteps of subscribers throughout this month.

The gin will be sent in a box that celebrates flavours of the forest as we slip from summer into autumn, including a selection of handpicked tonics, cocktail mixers and snacks.

Craft Gin Club is the biggest of its kind in the UK, shipping thousands of bottles each month to gin lovers.

In 2016, its founders appeared on TV’s Dragons Den and four of the dragons wanted to invest.

Craft Gin Club's expert panel taste-tests and assesses hundreds of spirits from all over the world every year to choose just 12 gins of the month - so it’s a real achievement for Roundwood to be selected.

Speaking about the Craft Gin Club special edition gin, Emily said: “The name Fireside was a nod to how we imagined Craft Gin Club members might enjoy this gin: around the fire with friends, allowing yourself to be mesmerised by flickering flames, the scent of woodsmoke and that bewitching crackling sound.

“Some of the botanicals in Roundwood London Dry Gin are quite summery. We wanted to make a different spirit that could see gin drinkers through autumn and beyond.”

Craft Gin Club’s gin expert, Graham McAteer, said, “With the days getting shorter, we’re all looking for warm comforts. Roundwood Fireside Gin fits the bill exactly!”
