Knitted Bible exhibition opens at Free Church in St Ives

This must-see exhibition is being held at St Ives Free Church, between 2pm and 4pm, between September 9-15 and on September 16, from 10am until midday.

The exhibits have been created by Jenny Clarke and present a portrayal of Biblical stories.

There are 30 scenes on display, beginning with the creation and 11 further Old Testament scenes, including Noah's Ark.

The Ark scene features hippos, tortoises, owls, pigs, zebras and a procession of other creatures being herded in two by two.

Other scenes feature Jacob, Joseph, Samson, David slaying the giant, Goliath, and Jonah being swallowed by the whale.

The 18 New Testament scenes begin with the story of the nativity and progress through Jesus's baptism, the parables and the miracles of Jesus.

The final scenes depict Jesus riding into Jerusalem, the Last Supper in the upper room, Jesus carrying the cross for his crucifixion and Palm Sunday.

The exhibition is free though donations for the work of the Free Church are welcome.
