Investment plans to develop and enhance Hinchingbrooke Country Park, in Huntingdon, have been announced.

Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC), which manages the park, has said a planning application for the proposed plan is now available for public viewing.

The planning application "outlines the comprehensive investment plans aimed at enhancing the facilities and natural attributes of the park", including a new café, more parking and improved pathways.

Physical copies of the plans will be available to view at the Countryside Centre at the park between 9.30am and 4.30pm on August 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and September 8, 9 and 10.

The plans are also available to view and comment on via the council’s planning portal at: www.huntingdonshire.gov.uk (Ref no: 23/01377/FUL).

HDC's executive councillor for leisure, waste and street scene, Cllr Simone Taylor, said: “We are thrilled to present the plans for the investment at Hinchingbrooke Country Park.

"These plans lay out the exciting future for the park, and how it will continue to and improve on being a great asset for our residents now and for generations to come.

"I would like to thank those who have been involved and provided feedback and support so far and invite everyone to view and engage with these plans.”

The Hinchingbrooke Country Park Friends Group said: "We are truly excited about the upcoming new development plans at Hinchingbrooke Country Park. These initiatives reflect commitment to preserving the park's natural beauty while enhancing its recreational and community offerings.

"We look forward to seeing these plans come to life and hope to see even more people enjoying the beautiful park.

Following successful completion of this process, construction is projected to begin in spring 2024, starting with the enhancement of the car park.

Subsequent phases will encompass the revamp of the café facilities and the improvement of the pathway network.
